The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is an important initiative by the Government of India aimed at supporting small and marginal farmers. Launched in 2019, this scheme provides financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmers. The amount is paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each, directly into the farmers’ bank accounts. This direct transfer system helps ensure transparency and eliminates middlemen.
22nd Installment Successfully Distributed
The 22nd installment of the PM Kisan Scheme was recently released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a major event in Guwahati, Assam. In this phase, more than 9.32 crore farmer families received financial support. A total amount of ₹18,640 crore was transferred directly to their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
This installment was released around the time of the Rabi crop harvest and close to the Holi festival, which brought additional financial relief and happiness to farmers across the country.
Growing Participation of Women Farmers
One of the most encouraging highlights of the 22nd installment is the increased participation of women farmers. Over 2.15 crore women beneficiaries received financial support this time. This shows that women in rural India are becoming more active in agriculture and decision-making.
Government efforts have helped improve land ownership recognition and financial inclusion for women. This shift is not only strengthening the agricultural sector but also improving the social status of women in rural areas.
Importance of e-KYC and Eligibility
Farmers who have not received their installment should check their e-KYC status. In many cases, payments are delayed due to incomplete e-KYC or bank accounts not being linked with Aadhaar.
Farmers can complete their e-KYC easily by visiting the official PM Kisan website or by going to the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC). OTP-based verification or biometric authentication can be used.
It is also important to note that not all farmers are eligible for this scheme. Those who pay income tax, are government employees, or receive pensions above ₹10,000 per month are excluded from the benefits.
What to Expect from the 23rd Installment
Farmers are now waiting for the 23rd installment, which is expected to be released between June and July 2026. According to early indications, having a Farmer ID may become mandatory for receiving future payments.
Farmers are advised to complete all necessary documentation and digital identification processes in advance to avoid delays in receiving benefits.
Impact of the Scheme
Since its launch, the PM Kisan Scheme has distributed over ₹4.27 lakh crore to farmers across India. This shows the large-scale impact and success of the program. It has helped farmers manage their expenses, invest in agriculture, and improve their livelihoods.
The PM Kisan Scheme continues to play a crucial role in strengthening the financial condition of farmers in India. With timely installments, growing participation of women, and improvements in digital systems, the scheme is moving towards greater efficiency and inclusivity. Farmers should stay updated, complete their e-KYC, and prepare for upcoming installments to fully benefit from this initiative.
